  • L.E.A.P. is a highly regarded focus course of study that stands for the Limestone Enriched Arts Program. An audition and application is required to apply.

  • Courses include English, geography, and communications technology in grade 9.
  • English, history, and career-civics focus for grade 10.
  • LEAP students traditionally choose to complete a Specialist High Skills Major in Arts & Culture during their senior years as an additional red seal of qualification on their OSSD.

Who auditions?

  • Any student who is not currently in the grade 8 Calvin Park LEAP Program. That means any grade 8 student from any other school in or outside the Limestone District School Board.

When are the auditions?

How long is each audition?

  • Each audition is approx. 15 minutes in duration.

How do I get an audition?

  • Our Student Services secretary, Bobbi Jo Scott, will telephone you to tell you your audition time on the designated day.

What should I do to prepare for the audition?

  • Bring a cover letter to your audition explaining what interests you about the LEAP program, what you hope to gain from it as well as what you hope to contribute to it.
  • Bring your most recent report card.
  • Prepare ONE 2-3 minute performance that best demonstrates your arts strength.
  • Prepare a couple of questions to ask the panel after your performance. The interview portion is a dialogue and an opportunity to find out more about both LEAP and L.C.V.I.

What do students typically perform?

  • Students may choose any ONE of the following modes of performance; a musical instrument, or vocal performance, or a choreographed dance, or a monologue, or art portfolio (paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures, carvings, mixed media)

Can parents or an agent be present at auditions?

  • A designated waiting area for parents or agents is provided. They are welcome to wait while auditions are completed.

When will I know if I have been accepted into the LEAP program?

  • By the end of March 2012, letters will be sent out to all applicants at their home addresses to indicate whether or not they have a seat in the program.
